Event Social Media:
Leveraging online tools to promote attendance, awareness, and engagement
NorthPointe's commitment to Meeting Planner education continued at a recent Morning Meeting Pointe on May 25, 2010. With more than 60 meeting professionals in attendance, NorthPointe hosted Laura Rees from ShinyDoor, a company that provides social networking guidance for the hesitant.
Laura discussed how using social media for events can increase not only attendance, but engagement from attendees during and following the event, engagement from an audience outside the event, and also followers and fans - thus promoting organization and event awareness.
Topics included:
- How to encourage event discussion on Twitter
- How to set up a display to monitor the ongoing conversation
- How to use the Twitter stream to more fully engage participants
- How to use a FaceBook fan page as a resource for attendees
- How to use video tools: Ustream, YouTube, or Skype at an event
- How to use SM tools to encourage networking
- We are pleased to offer recordings of Laura's session for those who were unable to join us.
